A lot of things went well for Rock Creek last week in their sweep of the Wabaunsee Chargers last Tuesday night. The Mustangs amassed seven home runs on the evening to dominate both games: 12-1 and 21-4.

Local high school girls wrestlers grappled for a shot at a state berth Saturday in Rossville at the KSSHAA 4-3-2-1A Regional Tournament.

Rock Creek hosted Wabaunsee Friday night, for their last appearance on the court before heading into winter vacation. Thanks to a big second half push, the Mustangs were able to snag the win, moving to 3-2 as they head into the break.

In 1A football action tonight, the St. Marys Bears downed St. Mary's Colgan 36-12 in Pittsburg to become Sectional champions and move on to the Sub-State game. Wabaunsee, on the other hand, fell to Conway Springs there 39-14, ending the Chargers' best season on record.

Four area teams have qualified for state as a result of cross country regionals and sub-state volleyball tournaments held this weekend.

Wabaunsee’s Payton Wurtz continued her cross country dominance, bringing gold from last Thursday’s Mid-East League Championship Meet, held at Silver Lake.
