WESTMORELAND, Feb. 1, 2023 – McKaine T. Farr, 21, Wamego, appeared for his preliminary hearing today in the Pottawatomie County District Court where he was remanded to stand trial on distribution of a controlled substance causing death, according to County Attorney Sherri Schuck.

POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), the Wamego Police Department, and the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a man’s death after he was found Sunday afternoon at a residence in Wamego, Kansas.

The Emmett Fire Department, once nearly decimated due to lack of volunteers, is a success story, Jared Barnes, county fire supervisor told County Commissioners Monday.

At a previous meeting, representatives from the Kansas Municipal Energy Agency spoke to the Wamego City Commission about changes needed to increase the electrical capacity.

Stephan Metzger, county planner, reported to the Pott. Co. Commission Monday that the number of building permits decreased in 2022 while the prices of houses dramatically increased. The county issued 40 fewer permits for dwellings in 2022 than in the year prior.
